MAS-100 Libra®

Automated passive microbial air sampling with settle plates

The MAS-100 Libra® automates the handling of sedimentation plates in passive air monitoring. The fully automatic plate changer minimizes manual interventions in critical areas, reduces the risk of cross-contamination, and increases the reproducibility of exposure times.

With automatic plate changes, seamless integration into the isolator HMI, and comprehensive documentation, the system supports the implementation of an Annex 1-compliant contamination control strategy.

Proven methodology. Now automated.

MAS-100 Libra automatically exposes up to six 90 mm settle plates over a period of up to 24 hours. This significantly reduces the frequency of interruptions to automated processes. Operating personnel gain time for value-adding tasks, while plant operators benefit from higher system availability—with an unchanged, regulatory-approved measurement methodology using settle plates.

The automated handling of plates and lids minimizes manual interventions in the critical zone, reducing the risk of unintended contamination and operator errors.

At the same time, the exposure duration, position, and sequence of the plates remain constant, improving the comparability of measurement results. Configurable measurement times with optional delays, as well as selectable loading, unloading, and measurement positions, allow precise adaptation to production processes.

Rely on accurately documented data and reliable alerts: The MAS-100 Libra can be integrated directly into the isolator's HMI. Exposure times, plate order, and positions are recorded automatically, and an alarm is triggered in the event of deviations. This eliminates the error-prone manual compilation of these details and the comparison with already incubated plates.

The complete documentation supports audits and makes it easier to prove that settle plates were exposed exactly as specified in the SOPs.

The MAS-100 Libra was developed in accordance with GAMP 5. Automated handling of the settle plates facilitates implementation of the contamination control strategy required by EU GMP Annex 1.

Its low particle emission meets the strict criteria for Class A cleanroom environments. In addition, the instrument can be decontaminated with H2O2. The excellent flow resistance properties of the design cause minimal turbulence and eliminate the risk of backflow onto the exposed settle plate.

FAQ

The number of settle plates loaded can vary with each run and does not need to be configured. After loading, the MAS-100 Libra checks how many settle plates are present. The MAS-100 Libra can process any number of plates from 1 to 6.

The MAS-100 Libra can be integrated into subordinate systems via various communication interfaces. Modbus TCP, RESTful API via RJ45 Ethernet, and digital input/output channels are included in the instrument.

The MAS-100 Libra has an alarm system, which means that an alarm is triggered in such cases. If the instrument is integrated into the HMI system of the filling line, the corresponding system will trigger an alarm in accordance with the internal protocol. All error events are recorded in the instrument's log file. The user manual contains a list of possible errors, together with a description of how to rectify them.
