MAS-100 Sirius®
Next-generation active microbial air sampler

Reference reloaded: MAS-100 Sirius® is the successor of the MAS-100 NT® – the world’s best-selling active air sampler. The agar-based sampler sets a new standard in monitoring microbial air contamination. Engineered to achieve highest precision and to minimize the risk of secondary contamination, it is ideally suited for both non-controlled and controlled environments such as pharmaceutical cleanrooms.
Listened. Understood. Evolved.
Automated instrument checks inform operators about missing or incorrect components during the measurement and assure fast detection of operational errors. A leak test verifies the proper contact of the perforated lid. Calibration of both flow and timer are traceable, sensor drifts are identified at an early stage thanks to the dual-sensor design of MAS-100 Sirius.
The seamless stainless steel design allows for easy cleaning of the instrument. The innovative magnetic lid with handle helps to ensure aseptic operation, as it keeps the operators’ hands out of the critical measurement zone. The inner path of the device head can be actively decontaminated with VHP.
MAS-100 Sirius includes a complete and tamper-evident audit trail with convenient live filtering. Thanks to the sampling data export via a result barcode or WiFi, data integrity is assured. In case of deviations, errors are logged in the audit trail based on pre-defined sampling error reasons on the display. With the optionally included user management, access can be precisely controlled.
With its lean user interface and simple navigation, the configurable one-button sampler clearly guides users through the process and reduces the risk of operating errors – just as the easy-to-use magnetic lid with handle does. The plate holder can be adjusted for 55 mm and 90 mm agar plates as well as Growth Direct® cassettes without additional tools. On top of that, the measuring time is significantly reduced thanks to the high flow rate of 200 SLPM, to ensure tight schedules can be met.

SERIOUS AIR SAMPLING

Safe, aseptic handling
The magnetic lid with handle is a world first. The angled, ergonomic grip greatly simplifies handling during sampling. The result: less needed force, no risk of jamming, and contamination-free operation from the side. Like the entire instrument body, it is made of stainless steel.

Intuitive operation
Operator confusion due to a large number of options is a thing of the past. The configurable one-button sampler clearly guides through the sampling process: Its uncrowded user interface is reduced to the essentials and comes with large fonts as well as clear color schemes. This significantly diminishes operating errors and speeds up the measurement.

MAS-100 Sirius

Proven impaction technology
For active microbial air sampling based on the impaction principle, a predefined volume of air is drawn through a perforated sieve. The air and the particles in it are accelerated and directed onto an agar plate positioned below the sieve.
Due to inertia, particles above a certain size are impacted onto the agar medium. After appropriate incubation, microbe-bearing particles become visible as colony forming units (CFU), can be counted and reported as CFU/m3. The particle size at which 50% of the particles impact and the other half remain in the air stream is called the cut off diameter d50 (um).
Great emphasis is placed on precision in the manufacture of MBV perforated sieves. This ensures that the cut off diameter is identical in all holes and that microbial air sampling is repeatable.
Both the comparison of several MAS-100 Sirius instruments and the comparison of different perforated covers of the same type confirmed the consistent performance in practice.
FAQ
Yes, the audit trail of MAS-100 Sirius display as well as the exported XML file is tamper-proof. In addition the instrument features a file integrity check in order to identify if the exported file had been modified or corrupted since its export. This makes the exported files tamper-evident. To prevent from unintended data loss, deletion of the audit trail is only possible after a successful export.
Yes, MAS-100 Sirius is compatible with LIMS systems. Integration can be achieved in two ways: by scanning the sampling result QR code displayed on the instrument, or via wireless connection using a RESTful API interface.
MAS-100 Sirius includes an integrated leakage test, which can be accessed via the local user interface. MBV recommends incorporating this test into your standard operating procedures (SOPs) and performing it regularly. By doing so, potential tightness issues can be detected early, helping to prevent problems that may lead to OOS results during as-found calibrations. Furthermore the instruments contains dual sensor allowing identification of sensor drifts early.
