MAS-100 Atmos®

Compressed gas sampling in a new sphere

The MAS-100 Atmos® was specifically developed for germ collection in process and medical gases.

Based on a germ-friendly collection principle under process pressure, it measures microbial contamination in accordance with ISO 8573-7, ISO 14698, and EN 17141, setting new standards in ease of use, safety, and data integrity.

With flexible configuration options, the instrument supports data integrity-compliant workflows – from user management and sampling to documentation.

Under pressure? Even better.

The MAS-100 Atmos impresses with its intuitive user interface and easy handling of the collection head. During sampling, the flow is automatically regulated—even with limited flow rates. Decompression is also fully automatic. Its intelligent design allows for convenient and thorough cleaning and disinfection. The compressed gas sampler can be conveniently configured from a computer via the browser-based user interface.

The comprehensive safety concept protects users and instruments: the mechanical safety lock on the collection head prevents accidental opening under pressure. An integrated HEPA H13 (ISO 35H) protective filter protects the interior of the instrument and prevents the emission of particle-laden exhaust air.

For even more comprehensive occupational safety, a drain can be connected for the safe removal of test gases.

The complete, tamper-proof audit trail documents every step of the process in a transparent and traceable manner. Optionally, integrated user management with function-based roles and personal hardware keys enables a 21 CFR Part 11-compliant workflow. A barcode scanner can be used to track the sampling environment and automatically transfer the sampling results to higher-level LIMS/EM systems via a barcode on the display. This minimizes documentation errors.

Whether as a stand-alone solution outside of strict data integrity requirements, as an independent 21 CFR Part 11-compliant instrument, or as a closely integrated component in a LIMS/EM architecture, the MAS-100 Atmos can be precisely adapted to individual processes.

Its versatility is also evident in the gas types it supports, ranging from compressed air to argon and nitrogen to carbon dioxide. It reliably collects germs in pressure ranges from 1.2 to 7 bar and at flow rates of 50 or 100 L/min—with optional automatic flow reduction.

Gentle collection principle

Standards such as ISO 14698, EN 17141, and ISO 8573-7 require the determination of the bacterial count in process gases. The MAS-100 Atmos uses a particularly gentle method: the impaction of the pressurized gas onto the agar plate takes place under the same pressure as in the pressurized gas system. Only after sampling is the pressure checked and slowly reduced. This protects germs from high shear forces and abrupt drops in pressure and temperature, which could lead to reduced growth and survivability.

Traceable calibration

Reliable microbial measurement results require an accurate collection volume. That is why the gas flow of the germ collector should be checked annually. Our experts calibrate your MAS-100 Atmos at our premises in Stäfa or directly at your site and ensure traceable calibration in accordance with the highest international standards (accredited according to ISO 17025).
